Our therapy team is led by therapists with more than 15 years experience.

Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy Services for Children
The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable children and adolescents to participate in the activities of everyday life.
Occupational therapists can work with children of all ages and their families, to help enhance skills necessary for their everyday life including playing, getting dressed or handwriting. Occupational therapy may also address social, psychological and environmental factors impacting on the child’s life. This may include making changes to the child’s environment such as their school or home to help the child be more independent.
Our experienced paediatric occupational therapists can provide services to children of all ages in the following areas:

- Tool Use (involves utilising objects within the hand such as cutlery, scissors or pencils)

Psychology
Psychology involves assessment of cognition (thinking skills) to assist children and their families develop strategies to promote learning at home and school.
Our psychologist can assist children of all ages and their families in the following areas:
- Assessment of thinking skills such as attention, visual and verbal information processing, learning, memory, problem solving and academic abilities
- Identifying individual cognitive strengths and challenges
- Assisting with diagnosis of Specific Learning Disabilities, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental conditions
- Making suggestions for strategies that play to children’s strengths and compensate for (or continue to develop) areas of challenge
- Liaising with parents and schools to determine optimal learning environments and manage challenges at school and home
We use a range of tools in sessions;
- Behavioural observation and identification with tools such as the Child Behaviour Checklist
- Cognitive assessment with a variety of tools including the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children or Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WISC-V or WPPSI-IV)
- Psychoeducation, support of emotional and social development, and behavioural intervention using tools such as the Zones of Regulation, Social Stories and Positive Behaviour Support.
